What is a Residence Permit in Turkey?

In accordance with Law No. 6458 on Foreigners and International Protection, foreigners who intend to stay in Turkey beyond the duration of their visa are required to obtain a residence permit.

Main Types of Residence Permits

• Short-Term Residence Permit: Issued for purposes such as tourism, business meetings, or scientific research.
• Family Residence Permit: Granted to the spouses and children of Turkish citizens or legal foreign residents.
• Student Residence Permit: For foreigners studying at higher education institutions in Turkey.
